In the heart of Sierra de la Giganta, lies a little town of
extraordinary beauty known as San Javier. Amazingly, very few people take
the short trip to this tranquil setting, full of date palms, citrus groves
and varius other tropical fruit trees including mangos and papayas, where the
Rancheros still with their lifestyles similar to those of early years
of spanish settlement more than three centuries ago.
The roads of Baja are well known for the beautiful views of the
Sea of Cortez, where the desert meets the sea. Cormorant
Adventure arrange ATV's Tours that includes the day pass to San Javier and
a four-hour trip to a working ranch several miles farther up the valley.
This trip will provide you with spectacular vistas, lots of fun trying to
negotiate the rocky terrain and most of all, a unique insight into the
local people who still subsist entirely from the earth they live on. Once
you reach the ranch, your guide will take you to meet the family and if
you are lucky, enjoy some fresh goat cheese made right on site. A short
walk further up the valley brings you to a verdant palm oasis with fresh
water pools formed from millions of years of erosion.
